Beachside Bliss: How to Beach Like a Pro
Leave a CommentIt’s a depressing fact that the majority of us spend 9 months of the year eagerly awaiting the arrival of summer. And when summer finally hits, everything changes. Summer dresses, shorts and flip-flops come out in full force and the only thing on everyone’s mind is how quickly they can get to a beach. Some of us can drive down the road for a bit of sandy goodness and some of us need to fly to a different country. But, whatever it takes, we will get there. So, you’ve got getting to the beach sorted, now you need to know how to make the most of your time there. These simple beach hacks should have you feeling like a VIP from the moment your feet touch the sand.
Waterproof You Electronics
We all want to take photos of our friends/kids/significant others splashing around in the sea but we also don’t want to risk getting water or sand in our phones or cameras. By popping your electronics in a sandwich bag you will stop it from getting wet and still be able to use the touch screen. Now you don’t need to worry about breaking your iPhone when you’re wading out waist deep to take the perfect Instagram snap. This also works with money that you don’t want to get wet.
Create Your Space
If you are going to spend a long time at the beach then you are going to want to make yourself as comfortable as possible. One great way to make your own little beach paradise is to build a bohemian tent. You can do this easily using large sticks and a couple of sheets. Alternatively, take a fitted sheet and put something heavy in each of its corners to make a little beachside playpen – this is ideal for babies. Throw in some blankets or towels, pillows and snacks and you’ve got a VIP beach den for you and your friends.
Stock Up on Baby Powder
This magical substance is an absolutely essential post-beach product. The powder sucks all of the water out of any wet sand that is clinging to your skin, making it super easy to brush off. Anyone who has ever had to deep clean their car after a trip to the beach will certainly appreciate the power of this simple trick. It will also leave your skin feeling soft and smelling nice so it’s an all round winner.
Sunscreen is Your Friend
It doesn’t matter if it is a bit overcast – you need to lather up with sunscreen. Even on a cloudy day 80% of the suns UV rays can penetrate your skin. Around 15 minutes before you step out in the sun you should cover yourself with sunscreen. Once you are in the sun you should be reapplying at least once every two hours and even more if you are constantly going in and out of the water. Keeping your skin protected will stop you getting burnt and also prevent skin cancer and other nasty problems.
